- The Best Baby Book we have!
My son has loved this book since we started reading to him at
3 or so months. He has learned to turn the pages (and since
the text is so short, I can read it before he turns!) He loves
the bright simple pictures and especially the mirror at the
end. He always kisses himself, it is SO cute. Course, now he
kisses anytime he sees his reflection. This book is wonderful
for the simple text and great pictures and the predictablity
(a great pre-reading skill!) Our son is 10 months and will sit
and "read" it to himself now! A must have for any child's
nursery. |

Elmo's Big Lift-And-Look Book:

- Parents beware!
Buy this book only if you're prepared to read it *all* the
time! I love that this book has helped teach my 2 yo son his
letters, numbers, shapes, opposites, etc., but he has to read
it every night before bed and he has to sleep with it! This
has been going on since we got it for Christmas! I'm so sick
of it, I came online to find another Elmo lift-and-look book.
For my son's bedtime reading ritual, I have to read Elmo first
or he won't concentrate on the other books--constantly saying
"I wanna read Elmo" as I'm trying to read a different book!
Thankfully, there's enough going on each page that I can make
up stories about the characters or play games like finding
circles in the numbers page to mix things up a bit! Ah well,
thanks Elmo :-) |

The Monster at the End of This Book:
Starring Lovable, Furry Old Grover (Big Bird's Favorites)

- Will be read over and over and over!
I teach 3 year olds at a Day Care Center and read this book a
few times a week. It is a sure way to get them all to sit
still. No matter how many times they hear it and by now know
the conclusion they sit enthralled. They even know the words
and say them with me. I always ask... "Should I turn the page"
and they all yell "YES". They laugh and giggle and act
scared... It's pure joy reading it to them and watching them
react! They have special books that we read over and over and
over and this certainly is one of them. My book is getting
rather thread bare and I'm buying a new one. |

Magnetic Geomag Set
Better than lego - I LOVE this toy. My son went crazy
for this toy when they started using them in his school to
teach math. I've seen the cheaply made versions but this one
tops them all. We recently purchased the 86 piece set to add
to the two 42 sets we already had and he's build the most
amazing bridges, towers, spinners...and even a snapping
triangle levitron that uses the opposition of the north/south
poles to repel...very cool. |

Magnetic Geomag Set
fascinating toy! Couple of points. This is a quality
toy that is not destroyed easily but the balls can be lost
quickly. My daughter who is almost 4 likes to put the balls in
her mouth (so they are out of reach for the moment) but enjoys
the magnets. There is no need to recommend this toy to
friends, just leave it on the table and be careful it doesn't
disappear permanently. Last, these are fairly strong magnets
from which it is possible to suspend up to 5 ball bearings. It
is interesting to see how the magnets interact. For example, 2
positives will attach to the same bearing (but not each other)
but the bearing will not attract other bearings while a
positive and negative magnet on the bearing means the bearing
will attract others. 3 attracts. The smallest set is sold
showing a spinning diamond suspended from bearings, which is
another fascinating trick. In short, this toy has a depth of
qualities that can interest even a doctor of laser physics
(one of our friends). |

In my experience with this toy, I have seen my son develop
such creativity. This toy is extremely durable. As long as
your child is out of the chewing stage, it is safe to purchase
this toy. Legos challenge the child to be creative and
inventive. They can follow the suggested directions or create
their own invention. I would recommend this toy to any parent
looking to give their child a creative outlet. This toy is
timeless. |
